Originally purchased  in Scottsdale Arizona, I still use these "1980" Tama Superstars for most of my "live" shows and
recording projects. The kit is 6 ply Birch and the color is aqua marine stain over the birch wood grain.
My main kit is a Tama Superstar Birch Drum Set

These drums are beautiful, dated March 1961. This is a Maple kit with White Marine Pearl finish.  I picked these up in
Henderson, NV in May of 2008. I had to put a lot of work into this drum set to get it playable and show ready.
I currently use this kit with "Springsteen! The Premier Tribute To The Boss".

I have been playing  Zildjian cymbals my entire career. I currently still play Zildjians along with an assortment of  Sabian's.
Cymbals do break, so I don't always have what you may see in a photo from the past. What is listed is currently what I have.
Typically, on a "Live" gig, I use the 20" Ping Ride, a 16" & 17" crash cymbal and my quick beat hi hats. Depending on the gig or the
recording, I usually add the china, an extra crash and the splash if necessary for extra coloring and sound enhancement.

My main snare is a "1979" 6 1/2" x 14" Slingerland "Spitfire", which features a 5 ply wood shell made of maple, poplar and
mahogany with a chrome covering. I have a Shure SM57 mic mounted inside the drum. This drum is a great "all around" drum, I
use this for all styles of music and most of my gigs, including recordings, it's subtle, but also has a nice crack to it.

I bought this snare from Jonathon Moffett
who has played drums for the "Jacksons Victory
Tour",Elton John, Madonna, Janet Jackson,
George Michael and Cameo. Yamaha was working
on a prototype for Jonathon's very own  Artist Series
and this was one of the prototypes.

I proudly use and have used all my career Vic Firth sticks, Mallets and Brushes.
For light playing I tend to use 7a wood tips and for heavier playing I usually go with 5a wood tips, American Classics.
I also use Pro-mark "Hot Rods" in various sizes, when sound volume is an issue.
I have used Remo drum heads my entire career, usually white coated Ambassadors on the batter side and clear Ambassadors
on the bottom. On my Tama Superstar bass drum, I have a 22" Pinstripe on the batter side and a  22" Ebony Ambassador
on the front. On my Ludwig 22" Super Classic bass drum, I'm trying the Remo 22" Clear Powerstroke 4 with great results.

I'm always asked where I go to buy  equipment. My usual answer is "Anywhere".   However, when
I do need equipment, I usually go to West Coast Drum Center in Santa Ana, Ca. I would consider
them my main supplier, Darren, Charles or Joe always give me a fair deal. Sometimes that isn't
always convenient so I also shop at Jim's Music in Irvine, Rob and Ric have been friends for years.
Guitar Center has always been there for me too, no matter what town I'm in, there is usually a
location close by, open and ready to sell me something that I need at the last minute.
I'm a proud member of ASCAP
These are the books I studied and used back in College.
Ted Reed's  Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer,
"Stick Control" by George Lawrence Stone,  &
"The Logical Approach to Snare Drum"  Volume's 1 & 2,
were the books I used the most, and a lot of manuscript paper.

I practiced everyday to a metronome using various tempos.

I WOULD EVEN PLAY EXERCISES IN BETWEEN
COMMERCIALS WHEN WATCHING T.V.
